All About Monochromatic Minimalism

As much as I love bright colors to make a bold statement, a lot can also be said by a strong monochromatic look.  For me the key to wearing tonal looks is all about varying proportion and texture to establish some differentiation in your pieces.  You can achieve a good look by contrasting long length jackets and cropped trousers, or balancing baggy pants with fitted tops, or even layering different pieces in varying fabrics to add texture.  For this outfit I decided to stick with clean lines played up the unique racing stripe detail in these chinos.  A long sleek coat paired with slim pants and highlights of white/neutral accessories really make a statement in this all (well…mostly) navy palette.  I of course chose to shoot this at the Cooper Union buildig, one of my favorite buildings in the city, to match the strong lines of this outfit.
