Holiday Party Attire Without The Suit

Holiday party season is here again so for this installation of my partnership with River Island I’m showcasing two festive outfits that don’t require a suit! Since I’m not much of a suit and tie guys these days, I found that looking for inspiration for non-traditional holiday dressing wasn’t that easy. So that’s the reason I decided to put this together. For my first outfit I skipped the blazer and went for a dressy cardigan instead. I decided to go sans shirt underneath for an edgier look but you can wear a solid tee or even a button down underneath if that’s not so much your style. I also mixed patterns here by combining stripes and plaids, a theme I carried into my second outfit. When in doubt, a polo is always a good alternative to a button down so that’s exactly what I did for outfit 2. You can make a polo feel more “nighttime” and less country club by choosing one in a dark, rich color and pairing it with slacks. A wool topcoat is always a good choice for nighttime party outerwear. I chose this one with a faux fur color for an extra festive feel. And because every good holiday party is followed up by a day of recovery =P, I included a third look for when you’re Netflix and Chillin on the sofa to get rid of your hangover. It’s comfy enough to lounge around in but if you need to run out to the store to get more snacks you can class it up by throwing on a wool coat!
