Oversized Everything Continues To Be My Favorite Trend

One of the weird things about being in the fashion industry is that I find myself liking things I never thought I’d like. I’m constantly seeing the latest trends and collections at runway shows, previews, events, and even on my social feeds so it’s easy to get sucked up in all the fashion and want every look and every item I see. Sometimes I really do love a trend or a piece of clothing, but other times I’ll admit that I like a trend just because I’m so used to seeing it all the time that it becomes less weird to me. Does that make sense? The ugly/chunky sneaker trend, for example, took a while to grow on me but now I find myself oddly drawn to these sneakers and I’m even considering getting a pair of my own. One trend that I do genuinely like however is the oversized trend. It’s been around for a while, and some would even say it’s simply come back from the past. I think back to my childhood days in the 90s when baggy pants (JNCO’s) and super sized Starter jackets were the trend, and maybe that nostalgia has me embracing the oversized look here in the present day.
Fun fact about this outfit – the coat and the pants were not made to be an “oversized” fit. As a blogger I should disclose, although you probably already know, that I get gifted a lot of my clothing. These two items were gifted to me but in bigger sizes than I normally wear. Typically I’d ask to exchange the sizing but after trying on each piece, I really liked how big everything looked. The pants have that 90s skater vibe and the boxy oversized jacket reminded me of the recently released Balenciaga men’s prefall campaign. So although an accident, the clothes still worked and I have to say I’m feeling this look. Hate it or love it? Let me know what you think in the comments!
