My Scotland Photo Diary & Outfits

Glasgow & Edinburgh

I spent the first week of August traveling around Scotland and to be honest I didn’t quite know what to expect.  I took a quick look at the weather forecast, skimmed through the itinerary that the the team at Visit Scotland and People Make Glasgow prepared, and then packed my suitcase for a week away.  The pics below chronicle some of my journey and of course my outfits so without further ado… here’s how I spent my time in Scotland.

We partnered with Delta for this trip so they kindly hooked us up with Delta One premium cabin seats from NYC to Glasgow.  When it comes to an overnight flight, the fully reclining flat bed in Delta One makes all the difference in feeling refreshed upon landing.

The Malmaison hotel was our home for our nights in Glasgow.  It was a converted Cathedral with hip decor and conveniently located near the city center and close to the train station.

We visited the University of Glasgow and wandered through these very IG-worthy arches in the center quads.  Naturally I sported a collegiate look to match!

Singl-End was our first food stop.  It’s a cafe and bakehouse with delicious breads and…literally everything else on the menu too.  The decor was cute with vintage postcards displayed in the glass tabletops and the servers were super friendly!

I visited The Lighthouse in Glasgow at the recommendation of some of you guys on IG DM’s. The 360 degree city views from the top and the architecture of the stairs itself were breathtaking.  Thanks for the suggestion guys!

My favorite meal in Glasgow was at Six by Nico.  We ate lunch there from their six course menu that rotates seasonally.  This season the menu’s theme was Route 66 so all the dishes gave a nod to American diner dishes but with a twist.

The People’s Palace in Glasgow Green was a place I found on IG.  The giant greenhouse housed different plant and tree species from all over the world and it was truly a plant lover’s paradise.  Attached to it is a museum with exhibits about early Glasgow living and the whole building is set on a beautiful park in the middle of the city.

Nearly everyone I talked to, including a lot of you on Instagram, had recommended to visit Edinburgh while in Scotland.  Since it was only a quick 1 hour train ride away, we visited for the day and were not disappointed!  The Royal Mile and all the historical sights along the way including the Edinburgh Castle pictured above made for an informative visit and lots of good photo opps.  The only downside was all the sudden rain storms but luckily I was prepared with a trench coat and umbrella!

Since we didn’t have much time in Edinburgh we just stumbled into The Printing Press, a nearby restaurant off the busy George Street and then did some shopping before heading back to Glasgow.

Although I didn’t know quite what to expect from our trip to Scotland, I think it was better that way to be pleasantly surpised.  Although the on and off rain wasn’t the ideal weather for being a tourist, the food, people, and sights more than made up for it.  Stay tuned for my next post for more of my Scotland trip.
