Bringing Back Class To The Tanktop
We’ve all seen it before…probably out in Williamsburg, very likely at a Planet Fitness, and most definitely at a gay club. You might even be guilty of owning one, too! (*raises hand*) I’m talking about the skank tank. Yanno, that cut-up tee with the long, wide-open armholes and low neckline that’s a sorry excuse for a “shirt.” The skank tank has been tarnishing the name of tanktops everywhere as an acceptable article of clothing to wear in public aside from the beach or pool. It’s time we bring some class back to my favorite summer time top! IMO you can still wear a tanktop and be classy. Just stick to one that’s not super tight – that means no wife-beaters, unless you’re Ryan Gosling or unless you’re wearing it as an undershirt – and one with a modest neckline and arm holes – aka nothing that reveals your nipples and/or your waist please! For this outfit, I chose a more sophisticated printed pocket tank and tucked it into a pair of tailored suit shorts. Again, tucking in a top always makes an outfit look a little more polished, so you can definitely do this with your tanktops too! Suede boots and a felt fedora also help to elevate the casual feel of the tanktop so the outfit still looks acceptable to wear around the city.
